Because She Has Loved Me

If I had to choose a brief description of my life, it would be Psalm 91:14-16. “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My Name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With a long life I will satisfy him and let him see My salvation.”

I have changed the “he” and “him” to “she” and “her” and it fits perfectly. I love Him. Yes, I believe in God, that He came to earth as Jesus to pay the price for me to be with Him for eternity. Our spiritual enemy believes in Him too, and he trembles (James 2:19), but he doesn’t love God. All it took was my love.

God has definitely pulled me out of the many scrapes I got myself into. And when I talk to Him, thank Him, and pour out my heart to Him, I feel as if He has indeed set me on high. I’ve gone to Him with questions as well, and although He doesn’t always answer immediately, and that’s usually because I’m in the process of learning a lesson, He does answer, sometimes a few days later and sometimes years later, He will give me insight into a situation I’m facing and then remind me that I asked the question. But rarely does it take that long, probably only two or three times. Usually the answer is immediate.

Then there were the times I faced problems that threatened to overwhelm me. During those times, the help I received seemed almost miraculous, but even if that didn’t come, I never felt alone. He was always with me, patiently listening until I was ready to hear Him. Oftentimes He would remind me of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who were put in a furnace  but who didn’t die. Those looking on actually saw a fourth man with them – God Himself. Or He would remind me of Daniel in the lions’ den. He stayed safe, but the next ones who fell in did not. Or Noah, safe from a flood in an ark. Or Lot, who had to be almost dragged away from Sodom before it was destroyed. God walks that rough road we sometimes have to walk, and He keeps us safe.

The last part of the verse is my hope. I have lived a long life and I look forward to seeing His salvation – heaven! Do you know God? Do you know Jesus? It’s so easy to fall in love with Him, because His love for you is greater than you can possibly imagine. You can have help in trouble and answers to questions, just as I have. That hope of heaven can be yours as well!
