If you listen to the alternative news sources (and I find them a great source of information to what is happening as reported by some foreign news sources), we are in a guerrilla war of misinformation. What is being reported by some is not always the truth. But how do we really know what is the truth?
I think the enemy would have us think that we can do nothing. A recent Barna survey found that 68% of Christians don’t believe that Jesus’ sacrifice is what they need to get to heaven. In fact, many believe that the Bible isn’t completely true. They believe that they will go to heaven because they are basically a good person who does mostly good things. In the comments section of the online article I read, some questioned the study. “Who was studied?” they ask.
I understand their questions. Who wants to believe such a report. Who wants to believe the news, no matter what the source. If any of it is true, it can be very frightening.
I think the enemy would like us to let the news depress us. I think he would like us to think that we can do nothing to stop his evil plans, that people won’t listen to our best efforts, that it’s all been said already, and that we are powerless against the rising tide of chaos that seems to be happening in our country and the world.
I think he’s deluded.
I almost fell for that line of thinking, after all, I have people that I love dearly that may not be headed in the right direction, who appear to believe just as the study concludes. That, in itself, is depressing. Perhaps you have some loved ones that might fall in this category as well. Last night these thoughts rolled around in my head as I tried to get to sleep. I fought them, O how I fought them – with prayer, Scripture, and everything I could – over and over and over again. It was guerrilla warfare. I went to God and called on His promised help. Then I fell asleep.
And this morning, I awoke with a peace that “surpasses all understanding”. I knew that God’s got this, but I wasn’t feeling it last night. This morning, I sensed the joy of His victory. He wins! He told us so!
The enemy is fighting us with his lies and the negative thoughts he tries to force on us. Fight back. Use Scripture. Call out to God until His peace comes. And never give up trying to bring others along. As long as we’re here, there’s hope, even for that 68%. As long as I’m here, I’m going to fight for them, for my loved ones. I hope you join the fight, too.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” Ephesians 6:12-13.
