Lo

There’s a story of a new Christian in China who read in his Bible: “Lo, I am with you always.” His name was Lo, and he was overjoyed that God had spoken to him personally through that verse.

We know that the verse applies to all. Yet I am particularly blessed when I remember that when God gave us His wonderful promises, He not only gave them to the masses, He gave them to me personally. When I do my Bible study, I usually find a verse that addresses my current challenge. Am I fighting feeling overwhelmed and tired? God tells me to: “Come all ye who are weary, and I will give you rest.” Am I struggling with a problem I cannot solve? He says, “Trust in the Lord … and He will direct your paths.” And  “For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding” Are there fears and doubts about the future? God says “Do not worry about tomorrow …” and “He takes care of the sparrow …”  Do I feel alone and rejected? God says “I will never leave you or forsake you” Sometimes, I can’t even identify why I feel unsettled and not at peace. That’s when that Living Word will jump out at me. I love those times!

I’m so glad we have a Living Word that helps us all. May something wonderful jump out of the page for you during your next Bible study!
