Do you have a hungry heart?
We do have a problem: COVID-19. It has brought suffering to many and a difficult change in lifestyle to all of us. We try to cope. Kind and generous people are making masks and other supplies for health care workers or donating food to food banks so that all have what they need. We encourage each other. We pray. We have hungry hearts.
Can we do enough when even the experts aren’t sure how to end all of this, how to defeat the virus?
Is God listening to our prayers or does He expect us to do more? Surely there is sin in this world. People seem to have crossed so many boundaries that were never even imagined generations ago.
When we read of God’s rescue of Joseph in the Bible, it can give us hope, a reminder that God indeed not only rescues His own, but He can take even the worst situation and work it into good. Joseph suffered for years, but he was eventually able to bring his family to a place where food was available. Joseph followed God’s plan and many who would have died of starvation survived. And the Hebrew nation was born.
I don’t know how the COVID-19 problem will end, but God does. He knows our hearts are hungry as well – hungry for Him.
I love the song “Wonderful Merciful Savior”. That’s our God!
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:29 NASB
